The Unitron Group develops and produces electronic capital goods, such as medical devices, equipment for the OR, industrial electronics and control systems.

Together with Unitron Group, Smidesign developed the APAD: a medical device to monitor the pressure drops and increases during a lumbar puncture.

The integrated pressure sensor communicates with the electronics and software Unitron Group developed for this embedded medical device. The anesthetist receives feedback from the device in an auditory and visual way. Easy to use, eliminates errors during the puncture and contributes to patient wellbeing.

Smidesign is responsible for the (mechanical) design of the casing of this award winning product: it won the Herman Wijffels Innovation Award in 2007
