- Client: Diamond High Council
The Diamond High Council develops and produces high-tech instruments for the cutting and screening of diamonds.
The D-screen is a product aiming to serve the diamond trade by improving consumer trust.
Using an ingenious spectrometric device the product screens diamonds. Immediate visual feedback (LED’s) indicates if a diamond bares a synthetic signature.
This diagnosis heightens trust during transactions and offers a quick method of selecting suspicious stones for further analysis.
Working together with the High Council and the manufacturer, Smidesign designed the mechanics and aesthetics of this product. Its architecture assures a virtually idiot-proof measurement: the calibration (which is done without a stone) is located on the bottom of the housing.
