Modern greenhouse cultivation allows tomatoes to be grown all year round. Flowering and bearing fruit only at the top of a vine, the plants need to be layered so new vines can shoot back up and restart tomato production.

Layering the plants is a manual and laborious task, for which Smidesign designed an ergonomically sound tomato hanger. When a cultivator squeezes the hanger’s handle, the thread holding the top of the vine lowers slowly. This is much easier than the currently used reels, and improves productivity at the same time.
